Studying the field of “United States History II” is basically examining the history of the area that now compromises the United States of America from Reconstruction through the present. Obviously, that’s a lot of time, places, people, and events, so my focus is necessarily narrowed to what will ultimately be pertinent to basketball history.

This means that the themes of race, labor control, gender, sports, eugenics, muscular Christianity, and medicine will be of paramount importance along with other minor, in this context, issues.

Below are the various subfields and links to my individual review and notes on all the books I’ve read.

Citizen and State

Civil Rights and White Backlash

Convict Labor and Incarceration

Gender and Sex

Medicine and Environment

Progressivism and Liberalism

Race and (Im)migration
