Studying the field of “United States History I” is basically examining the history of the area that now compromises the United States of America from prehistoric times through the Civil War. Obviously, that’s a lot of time, places, people, and events, so my focus is necessarily narrowed to what will ultimately be pertinent to basketball history.

This means that the themes of race, labor control, gender, sports/gaming, urbanization, and medicine will be of paramount importance along with other minor, in this context, issues.
